Hanging Out at Acme Burger

About Lance Kuehne (my last name is pronounced “Keen“)

I have lived in Petaluma for over 22 years. My wife Moira and I moved here for the wonderful community, the beautiful historic architecture of the downtown, and the beautiful countryside.

As for that local countryside, it informs my career as a fine art landscape photographer. My work has been in galleries, museums and art fairs throughout the Bay Area. I have won many awards and have also judged numerous photography competitions, such as The Marin County Fair. In addition, my work has been sold as limited edition prints by the Pottery Barn, and as posters around the world. I also ran the award-winning Riverfront Art Gallery in Historic Downtown Petaluma for 15 years. I tell you all this to emphasize that the beauty of Petaluma and the surrounding area is important to me.

I have been a member of the Sierra Club for over 30 years. I am on the steering committee of 350 Petaluma. My wife is a co-founder of ReLeaf Petaluma, and I created their original website to get their first grant. I also taught photography at Petaluma High School, so I am familiar with our schools and the issues they face.

Another little secret about me, I have an extensive background in technology. I worked in that field at U.C. Berkeley, and Apple (among other places), and not only did I take the pictures on this website, I also created this website.

I have a bachelors degree in Politics from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and I always stay informed and vote in all elections. But over time, I discovered that our Petaluma city government is somewhat dysfunctional, so I got more involved in local issues.

I have been involved in issues such as the Dutra Asphalt plant, “Tubs on Stilts”, the Safeway Gas Station, Sid Commons, Davidon, single-family homes at the future Corona train station, and several other ill-advised proposals. I was deeply involved in getting several of our current council members elected, but some of them have turned out to be a disappointment, which is why I am running myself this time.

Check out my blog, “The Kuehne Observer” to read more about my ongoing involvement in local issues. You can find these articles at the Blog link above.

In short, art is one of my passions, but politics is another. I would now like to put some of that passion (and expertise) in art and politics to work for this city.

I would be honored to have your support.

Lance’s Efforts in Petaluma

Since moving to Petaluma 22 years ago, I have tirelessly worked towards a brighter future for Petaluma, advocating for safe streets, green spaces, and community involvement.

Through grassroots efforts to impact city policies, and with a strong focus on preserving Petaluma’s charm and natural environment, I have advocated for sustainable growth and citizen engagement.

Throughout the years, I have been a staunch advocate for responsible development that prioritizes the well-being of Petalumans over outside commercial interests, in order to shape a sustainable and aesthetically beautiful future for Petaluma.
